Julia Kent Releases Stories From the Sea
Canadian cellist Julia Kent released her soundtrack for the upcoming film, Stories from the Sea on October 12. The film, which premieres in Vienna at the Viennale Film Festival on October 26, follows three women as they navigate the Mediterranean. Stories from the Sea reveals "three perspectives at one and the same sea - the Mediterranean: crossed, made use of, enjoyed, feared and loved every day, every night," as described by the writer, director, and producer of the film Jola Wieczorek.
Kent, who now makes NYC her home, uses looping techniques, electronics, and "found sounds" to create her compositions. This is her first full-length release since 2019's Temporal.
