This was the Stones' response to the rush of fame that the wildly sucessful single, "Satisfcation," brought. Apparently the band was never crazy about the song,  with Keith Richards telling Rolling Stone in 1971, "I never dug it as a record. The chorus was a nice idea, but we rushed it as the follow-up. ...I thought it was one of Andrew Loog Oldham's worst productions." The song became a classic in spite of their low opinion of it.
