With the untimely passing in 2025 of IM partner Rosie G. of playMYMusic.FM, I took a bit of a break from this site. Rosie was my inspiration to launch Indispensable Music in the first place. We were friends long before she began her crusade at PMMFM to showcase indie artists from across genres and the globe, and I was instrumental in helping her get her message out. I created a website for her to serve as a hub and wrote much of the content for the first few years. 

I branched out on my own but collaborated with her on New Music Monday to present an indie artist we both liked each week. IM Monthly Picks were those that weren't chosen for Monday's feature but were artists I was still keen to write about. As her illness progressed, I returned to the writing duties at her site as well. After she was gone, both sites went dark for a while. I was sad and burnt out. I took a long break.

After months of mourning, I've returned to IM with a slightly different focus. New Music Monday is no more. An archive of our collaboration will remain, but my focus will be on this site's other features, including the longer form Series articles about artists, producers, designers, and engineers, and I'll spend more time digging around for good stuff for the Video Vault. IM Monthly Picks will remain. IM Jazz is essentially content I wrote for Rosie's Jazz Cafe series. I will continue to highlight Jazz artists from time to time, but new releases will find their way into the monthly picks (previously excluded per Rosie's insistence that jazz on Sunday AND Monday was not ideal for her audience).
