Duo In the Valley Below from my home state of Michigan has a fantastic sound. On their third album, The Black Moon, excellent vocals and guitar-driven pop are on full display, making this record stand out from the crowd. Collaborating with producer Sam Cohen (Sharon Van Etten, Danger Mouse), they managed to record most of the record at Cohen’s New York studio before a nearby brush fire cut the power. The finishing touches were done remotely from their new HQ in LA, and the result is captivating. They are currently on the road with dates through the US this month.
