Jojo Orme, who records under the name Heartworms, is already a critical darling. “Coming from small, conservative towns, it’s hard to have your own space and be yourself,” she confessed to NME in October. But she succeeded in finding that space along with the perfect producer in Dan Carey (Fontaines DC, Slowthai,). Her debut EP, A Comforting Notion is getting rave reviews across the spectrum. “A masterclass in making an entrance” is DIY’s definitive pronouncement of the EP’s 4 tracks of goth-infused post punk, adding, “spindly guitars and a shuffling drum loop make for sinister, intoxicating undertones, evoking Joy Division or Bauhaus with a fierce modern twist. “In its review, NME invites the listener to “say hello to the next great cult band.”
