2022 was a busy and successful year for Fantastic Negrito. He released White Jesus, Black Problems, and it was more than just music. Working with director Aerick Neal, he created a film to accompany the album as well. He earned a Grammy nomination for the song “Oh Betty” and toured extensively. Not one to sit still for long, he’s offering an acoustic reinvention of White Jesus Black Problems. Grandfather Courage tells the story of his forebears: a white Scottish grandmother and indentured servant living in a common law marriage with his enslaved African American grandfather, defying the racist laws of Colonial Virginia. The acoustic version may be even more powerful than the original. Fantastic Negrito is a marvel.
