Best known for her work in the UK shoegaze group Lush (and later Sing Sing), singer/guitarist/songwriter Emma Anderson has released her first solo album. The result of songs she’d been working on for a while, intending to record with Lush for a reunion that never happened, Pearlies keeps Anderson’s dreamy vocals front and center. Moving away from guitar-dominate to a poppier, electronic soundscape, the Guardian declares the record as a “successful enough reinvention for Anderson surely to be wondering why she didn’t make a solo record sooner.”
