Tryp Tych Tryo is a compelling new project from Polish bassist Wojtek Mazolewski, with Tamar Osborn (flute, saxophone, effects) and Nacyet Wakili (drums). The trio uses the many tools in its arsenal to create music that is sometimes free jazz, sometimes funky with ambient and psychedelic vibes and a whole lot of improvisation. Their debut album, Warsaw Conjunction, was released in June.
Gdańsk native Wojtek Mazolewsk has led Pink Freud and the Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet. He’s known for his trailblazing work, infusing jazz with genres as diverse as rock, punk, and folk music. He’s one of the key players in the Polish jazz scene, and this latest venture continues to elevate his standing.
Londoner Tamar Osborn has released three albums with her modal jazz ensemble Collocutor and is a member of Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra. She’s also the founder of Unknown to Known, the London Odense Ensemble, and Flock and a frequent collaborator with DJ Khalab, Jessica Lauren, and Sarathy Korwar.
Nacyet Wakili (a.k.a. Edward Wakili-Hick, a.k.a. Eddie Hick) is another fixture on the London scene. He’s performed with Sons of Kemet, Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra, the Steam Down collective, and Gilad Atzmon. With Onome Edgeworth (Kokoroko), Dwayne Kilvington (Wonky Logic) and Joseph Deenmamode (Mo Kolours) he formed Nok Cultural Ensemble.
