Did You Get Better
The Chicago lo-fi punk foursome has released its full-length debut. Putting out an EP during the pandemic, the group seems eager to get more work out with 10 songs that speed by in 30 minutes. With fuzzy guitars and sharp hooks, this band is on the move.

Aaron Frazer
Into the Blue
I wish I had a convertible because this would be a great song to listen to with the top down on balmy summer nights. Frazer’s second release is a triumphant neo-soul affair that showcases his lush vocals. It recalls classic 70s soul, and who doesn’t love that?

Emilíana Torrini
Miss Flower
IM has showcased Iceland’s Emilíana Torrini before, but her new album is so interesting, it was worth revisiting her this month. Her name may not be well-known, but fans of Lord of the Rings would know her voice from the haunting “Gollum’s Song.” On this outing, she’s blended folk, trip-hop, and pop into an enchanting brew.

Nebula and Black Rainbows
In Search of the Cosmic Tale...
California band Nebula (with ex-Fu Manchu members Eddie Glass and Ruben Romano) and Italian stoner rock group Black Rainbows split the difference on this release, In Search of the Cosmic Tale: Crossing the Galactic Portal, offering three tasty, heavy psych tracks from each group.
FEATURED TRACK: “Dogs of War”
Liz Lawrence
Peanuts
Liz Lawrence teamed up with producer Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, Aldous Harding, Yard Act) for Peanuts. Working with influences from many genres, Lawrence created a topical, funk-imbued record that is sure to fascinate listeners looking for something a little more challenging than standard rock fare.
