Tami Neilson

Neon Cowgirl

Tami Neilson is one of my favorite singers right now. I often lament how modern vocalists don't seem to feel the words they're singing, but Neilson is the opposite. She packs so much emotion into her performances that the listener is not entertained but moved as well. Americana Highways got it right when they wrote, "Tami’s not just a singer, folks…Tami Neilson is an artist."

Clipse

Let God Sort Em Out

Brothers Pusha T and Malice have teamed up after a 15 year absence as Clipse and released a new record. Even before its release, it stirred up controversy due to their label's insistence that "Chains & Whips," featuring Kendrick Lamar be removed. Clipse refused and bought out their contract, instead releasing this on Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.

Joyner Lucas

ADHD 2

Ten years after he broke through with "Ross Capicchioni," Grammy-nominated rapper Joyner Lucas is back with a follow-up to ADHD 1. As someone who suffers from the attention deficit disorder, his recent works reflect on his journey coping with the affliction and the problems that come with it. Over time, he came to rethink his condition as his creative superpower.

N8NOFACE

As of Right Now

In his collaboration with singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Chico Mann, N8NOFACE releases an EP marking a tonal shift from his previous work. The songs chart his evolution as an artist over the past decade, replete with sonic synths and guitars.

Mádé Kuti

Chapter 1: Where Does Happiness Come From?

Fela Kuti's grandson carries on the Afrobeat tradition on his second album. The Nigerian saxophonist has created an album called "vibrant" with layers of sound created by talented musicians. Elements of jazz and hip hop are incorporated into the backdrop of his social commentary.
