Parlor Greens

Emeralds

Organ trio Parlor Greens has released its follow-up to its 2024 debut, In Green We Dream. Ex-Delvon Lamarr Trio guitarist Jimmy James, Hammond organist Adam Scone and drummer Tim Carmen serve up more tasty funk that continues the tradition of the Meters, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Booker T. and the MGs.

Karate Boogaloo

The Melbourne soul jazz quintet has released a new single, the first new music since 2024's Hold Your Horses album. The four members of the group have been friends since childhood. Taking inspiration from funk's glory days in the late 60s and 70s, they play "cinematic soul," a la the Meters and the Delfonics.

Evolfo

Of Love

Plenty of bands get labeled as psych rock, but few truly earn that distinction. With Evolfo, the epithet is imminently suitable. Layers of grooves and melodic textures are plentiful, and the vibe is definitely trippy. This is the psychedelia I want to hear.

FEATURED TRACK: "Restless Seed"

CAVS

Sojourn

The second album by CAVS, the moniker used by drummer Michael Cavanagh (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) is a departure from his drum-focused solo debut, focusing instead on breezy yet hypnotic jazz with fellow Gizzard band member Joey Walker,  Mildlife’s Jim Rindfleish, and other fellow travelers.

FEATURED TRACK: "First Light"

Doug Gillard

Parallel Stride

Ready for a crop of fun and jaunty tunes? Look no further than Parallel Stride, the latest from Guided by Voices guitarist Doug Gillard. His fourth solo release, after more than a decade since his last, finds Gillard collaborating with stalwarts like Danny Lipsitz (horns) and a variety of drummers, including Ray Kubian, Travis Harrison, and others.
